If you’ve downloaded TuneUp, maybe you’ve had a chance to check out Tuniverse. If not, you might be wondering… what the [insert expletive here] is it?

Tuniverse is the free music discovery service within TuneUp where you can learn more about your favorite artists, and even stumble upon some new ones. Inside Tuniverse you’ll find three tabs, each one ready to assist you in your quest to further explore your music collection. Dig in and you’ll find upcoming shows in your city, artist bios, bizarre facts, music videos, merch, and more.

The first tab you’ll encounter under the Tuniverse feature is a super-convenient feature, code-named Concerts, which takes the information that TuneUp has about your music library, and provides you with upcoming concerts for all of the artists in your collection. Pretty nifty, no?

The second tab, Now Playing, is the sparkling jewel of Tuniverse. It provides a treasure trove of information and cool content about the song that is currently playing in your music library. You’ll get music videos, bios, recommendations for similar music, merchandise and news. Connect your Twitter account and tweet about the songs you’re jamming out to. You’ll also get access to our newest feature – Lyrics – which lets you view lyrics to your songs while they’re actually playing in iTunes or Windows Media Player.

The final feature in the Tuniverse realm is Share.  You can use Share to brag to your friends about how amazing your music taste is, and how well it’s organized, thanks to TuneUp.  Share allows you to post your iTunes statistics to Facebook, including last five songs played, top played songs, top artists, and favorite albums. Now you can prove to your friends that you really do have that one Taylor Swift song for ironic purposes only (sure), and that you had the new Foxygen before anyone else. You’ll have statistics on your side. (Disclaimer: TuneUp Media is not responsible if your friends still don’t believe you).

The next time you open TuneUp, dig into Tuniverse – you never know what you might find!
