After spending quite a bit of time touring with the Ty Segall Band, playing bass guitar and absolutely shredding live, Laguna Beach native Mikal Cronin is stepping back into center stage with his powerful new album, MCII.
The whole garage rock genre can potentially strike up feelings of harsh punk sounds and wailing guitars, but this guy just gets it. Mikal has been perfecting his surf-inspired garage tunes since high school, and has developed his sound into something truly raw ‘rock and roll.’ All distortion, irresistable chords and breezy hooks, the single off the record, “Shout It Out,” is the perfect summertime jam.
It’s important to point out that that this surfer/singer-songwriter has a degree in Music and composes in several different instruments; his education no doubt helped to support his maturing sound that is obvious in between his first solo album and this new release.
